Rocket

Acceleration: the first 10 metres.

About Rocket

Most sprints in a game are short. Train a clean start — lean, drive the arms, push the ground back — then time your 10 m and chase your personal best.

  • Anyone responsible can time or measure it — a parent, teammate, sibling, Glen or Jeff. Log the result yourself.
  • Personal best only for now. Girls grow at different times, so beating your own best is what counts. Achievement standards come after team baseline testing.

Clean Start

Coach cues

  • Forward lean from the start — no rocking back
  • Strong arm drive, elbows bent
  • Push the ground back behind you; short, powerful first steps
  • Rise gradually to upright over the 10 m

Try for

Five starts over 10 m, walking back between each. Every one should feel the same.

Why this skill?

A good first three steps matter more than anything else over 10 metres.

Prove it

Log your personal best. Achievement standards come after team baseline testing — until then, beating your own best is the goal.
